Most of them are certified organic (GOTS and/or GOLS). Newton and Lullaby Earth aren't organic, but both are GREENGUARD Gold certified and say they're made without vinyl or PVC. How to check yours! Start with the cover and skip vinyl or PVC. Then look at what's inside: choose organic natural latex, wool, coils, or breathable mesh over polyurethane foam. Wool is a great barrier because it's naturally flame retardant. If a brand won't tell you how their product passes a flame test because it's "proprietary", that likely means they're using toxic synthetic flame retardants. Look for GOTS, GOLS, MADE SAFE or GREENGUARD Gold on the whole mattress, and skip anything "stain resistant." If the brand doesn't say what it's made of, email them and ask!
