A Heart Full of Faith, Hands Full of Offerings “Are you the big Lama?” the old woman asked His Eminence Latshog Lopen in plain language, trying to catch her breath. His Eminence was looking around the proposed site of the upcoming Tara Retreat Centre in GMC when we saw this elderly woman running towards us, carrying two large bottles of milk along with butter and cheese. The load was heavy for her frail body, yet her face was filled with relief and immense happiness. “Yes, he is,” the attendant replied. His Eminence simply smiled. He did not speak her language, and she did not speak his. Yet, in that brief encounter, there was a beautiful understanding that needed no words. “Then I brought you some milk and curd, and butter and cheese,” she said, offering everything she had carried. “This is all I have to offer. I was so worried that I would not see you this time either,” she added. His Eminence was visibly touched and unusually joyful—an emotion he rarely shows. Her innocence, devotion and simple offering seemed to carry a meaning far greater than the material value of what she had brought. He blessed her with long prayers and generously offered her a gift in return. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 Sometimes, the purest offerings do not come from abundance, but from a sincere heart that gives whatever it has.
