@rocketgirlx3: In March, the crew of Engine 4 in Terre Haute, Indiana, carried a black Lab mix out of a burning house on Poplar Street. The family got out fine, and after that they started calling the dog Smokey. About a week later, the camera over the apparatus bay picked up Smokey at seven in the morning, sitting on the apron and facing the doors. Captain Lou Delgado called the family the first few times. These days he just texts them a picture. It's six blocks from the house to the station. The family leaves the gate open at 6:45, and Smokey makes the trip alone. There's a bowl by Engine 4 with the dog's name on it. When the tones go off and the bay doors roll up, Smokey moves over to the grass and watches the engine leave.

Cheesehead :

Animals are amazing. This reminds me of the "wild" animals who pay homage to humans who cared for them prior to the animals being re-introduced to their natural habitats.

Reporting for work ! He’s thankful and wants to pay back ! Get him a shirt and a place next to the chief ! He’s earned his stripes and spot on the truck ! 💯 Don’t over look - dogs are loving ! Show up with the correct behavior then get ignored ! We have to change this accept him ! Let him learn besides you ! They learn quickly ! Are loving ! They take life seriously! So should we all ! 💯 Good job
