@themalaymail: In a Facebook post, Hannah Yeoh reflected on Malaysia’s return to Formula 1, recalling how the idea had previously seemed difficult to justify because of the high costs involved. She said she had consistently felt that hosting F1 was not feasible in earlier years, with Malaysia instead focusing on more affordable sporting priorities such as MotoGP and athlete development. However, circumstances changed in 2026 following tensions in the Middle East, opening the door for the Bahrain Grand Prix to be held at Sepang. Yeoh praised Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and the Sepang International Circuit team for taking on the challenge and pulling off the event with just over two months to prepare. Looking ahead, she said the future of F1 in Malaysia would depend on affordability and the willingness of the public and private sectors to work together.
