Jimmy Kimmel Calls Trump's
Jimmy Kimmel Calls Trump's "Take Out" Comment About Los Angeles And San Diego "Indefensible" And Jokes About Calling The FCC Jimmy Kimmel is firing back at President Donald Trump. During his monologue on Tuesday, October 6, the late-night host reacted to Trump's comments at a midterm rally in Grand Island, Nebraska. Trump had said, "They can take out a city. Let 'em take out Los Angeles, let 'em take out San Diego. This is a very small price to pay." He was talking about the economic impact of the Iran war, such as rising gas prices. Kimmel called it "one of the craziest, most indefensible statements I have ever heard." He said it was about a country the U.S. is currently at war with, "taking out two American cities." Then he brought up April. Kimmel said Trump threatened to pull his show after a joke about Trump and the First Lady. Critics at the time called the joke dangerous. "Surely you must be mortified by the president of the United States casually ruminating about the d*aths of 13 million people," Kimmel said. Then came the punchline. "I'm going to report him to the FCC," he said, as the audience cheered. Then he added, "No, it's a joke." The White House responded. Communications director Steven Cheung wrote that Trump was "clearly stating U.S. cities would have been threatened if a nuclear Iran hadn't been stopped." A White House spokesman also criticized Kimmel in a statement to Entertainment Weekly. California Governor Gavin Newsom also called the comments "deranged and dangerous."
