And I will NOT be silenced because people want to tell me, “Don’t talk about it, it will ruin your reputation,” or, “Who is going to marry you if you speak publicly about what happened in your marriage?” I refuse to live like that. For too long, I felt manipulated into staying quiet and protecting someone else’s image while carrying the pain of what happened to me. I was naïve and kept trying to protect a marriage that was already falling apart within the first year and a half. I experienced behavior that I considered narcissistic. I was lied to and cheated on, and despite everything, I continued trying to save my marriage. I also supported him financially throughout our marriage. When he went to Turkey to get his hair and teeth done, I stayed home and paid the full-rent while also helping him with my own money. When his truck broke down, I helped him with that too. I contributed to other expenses without ever demanding that money back because, at the time, I believed I was simply supporting my husband and our marriage. And now the car that I bought and made payments on myself is being brought up as an excuse for why my mahr should not be paid. No. My car is my car. The financial help I gave during my marriage is separate. My mahr is my mahr. The email I’m showing is from February 16, 2025. This is proof that I was asking for my mahr long before I ever decided to speak publicly about my experience. I stayed quiet because I was trying to protect my marriage and my reputation. But being divorced does not mean I have to be ashamed. Telling my own story does not make me unworthy of getting married again. I will not allow the fear of “What will people say?” or “Who will marry you?” to silence me. I know what I experienced. I know what I contributed. I have my emails, receipts, and documentation. I’m not asking anyone to blindly believe me. I’m showing my proof and telling MY story. Allah knows the truth, and I refuse to be manipulated into silence anymore.
