There’s scientific proof of this! We have carvings of humans from 30,000 years ago that show either braided hair or a woven hair covering. The Venus of Willendorf is a good example

We are intended to believe that no sophistication or comfort predated money, and that such things are impossible without it.

I remember reading a story about a woman in some sort of history class and the teacher held up a stick with 28 notches in it and said something like “this is man’s first calendar” and she piped up and asked “well what’s a man have to measure 28 days for? I think it’s women’s first calendar” and I saw that when I was like 15 and that changed how I saw history completely

To deny the feminine and matriarchal beginnings of us, justifies this patriarchal trash fire we live in now. It purposefully warps our past to ignore or lie about who we were. It’s so aggressive.

Venus of Willendorf has neat plaits or curls. Our imagination is what helped us to survive and we were very aware of self and self-preservation. Hair grooming ties into that.

It is pseudoscience to assume they were unkempt. And I 100% agree with you!!! Braiding is what drove our evolution from braiding to weaving! And the rest was herstory!!

We deny their creative identity and ingenuity because we want to separate them from ourselves - I agree with your interpretation & I’d add, they are extinct and the possibility of that for us makes people deeply uncomfortable.

I try to tell myself that women were once so powerful that men felt the need to systematically shut them down and keep them down. What did those women do? What did we lose when we lost our power? How do we get that back?

Your video made me stop and think about sooo many things! You raised such an important point about beauty, and how its never represented in history, yet we have prehistoric art..hello?! Awesome video and a brilliant mind, loved it!🤩

we probably haven’t discovered combs and brushes because they wouldn’t have been made with stone, they’d probably be made with natural material that broke down over time like sticks or pines

If they could weave baskets with grass, there’s no reason why they wouldn’t have been doing similar things with their hair. Animals groom themselves, so would early humans.

like... we've found super primitive jewelry. strung beads. and no one tied the hair with that string? no cave person thought to roll up their hair and use a stick to hold it in place?

Birds, apes, and other species groom each other. It's part of their socialization with each other. Why would we think ancient people wouldn't do each others hair? It makes total and I don't think I've ever thought about it till now. 🤯

EXACTLY. Every culture has hair as decoration and they’re all so creative and unique. If we had enough intelligence to create art that we understand today and tools we still use today why would appearance and aesthetics not factor into what we were creating too
