I started with a toshiba laptop and got a pc years later. a macbook is alien tech and i fucking hate it. moved to a school in a small town north area and they were required. I was so fucking confused.

as somebody who's worked in Tech my whole life, I can tell you right now people who grew up using Windows computers are far more Tech literate and know how to troubleshoot and fix issues for the most part, people with Mac computers generally are not as technically literate and if there was an issue would usually in most cases bring their Mac to a repair center, whereas Windows users for the most part would troubleshoot the issues and try to fix the issues. now. with that said, obviously both groups have people that will do the opposite. you have Windows users who will never troubleshoot anything and you have Mac users who love tinkering. but for the most part I find anybody on Windows is more used to running into issues or tinkering or tweaking things

You can see it with kids growing up with ipads and tablets, instead of computers. as it's all about getting an app instead of going through files installing programs etc.

Everyone I know who had a Mac as their first computer or uses an iPhone is way less tech literate than the PC and Android users. My brother's got iPhones and I got Android, my brother's first computer was a MacBook and mine was an HP. I regularly do things on my computer that seem like rocket science to my brothers, and when it comes to troubleshooting issues with my phone it takes me half the time and I don't have to take it to a store to fix it.

Started with windows 3.1 ended with 10. I was done. Moved on to macOS 7 years ago simultaneously and my PC takes up some space in my closet and I have two MacBooks.

I’ve used windows 98-11 in school. I now stick to Mac. I like the control of windows, but Mac helps my adhd brain stay organized.

My cousin grew up on Mac because his mom was wonderful and could support that life for him, and now he’s top of his class and a computer engineer. I grew up on windows because that’s what was handed down, and I’m a CyberSec major. Literacy comes from being able to afford a proper education as well as interest in your field of study. If the implication is that Mac users are not as capable, it’s cope. You need to be able to hate all 3 options to be well rounded.

I feel like Apple prioritizes an easy user experience which is great, but I feel like PC kinda forces a little more literacy. Not that Pc is bad or that Apple is good. Apple just seems to attempt to make their devices so that any one could use them regardless of tech literacy and pc seems to expect you to have some level of basic knowledge
