As a marketing CRM data girly who uses snowflake daily (for a different major company), this is a massive deal. Snowflake holds everything about every customer, it literally is a data warehouse of every detail and interaction you have ever had with the company. Also, I have to say being in Snowflake does not directly mean they should be able to send an app notification (in some company set ups), so them being able to do that is also a massive deal at what they could of hacked/got into. I am not trying to fear monger but the reason ASOS has not made a comment yet is they are trying to figure out what the hackers want and what they do and don’t have of our data, but as someone who was pulled into an emergency meeting about this when I got into work, because we also use snowflake, it’s not a no big deal situation, and honestly in my job today super scary to see so close to home and the potential ramifications of it. I know we are so used to seeing data leaks or hackers all the time but this is a huge deal.
I will say we don’t know what they could have access too, and ASOS should have legitimate security procedures, AND, unfortunately data leaks happen all the time so it may not be as bad as it could be in the sense most your data is already out there somewhere, but even as someone who uses ASOS themselves, to just be super vigilant of any personal information ect or something weird that you spot in your personal life or accounts ect!
