it's not that he's a drunkard bard and that's all he cares about, it is the fact that he is so good as an archon that he can afford (not monetarily) being a drunkard bard because the way he built the nation, how well constructed it is, allows him, he steps up the moment a conflict appears and finds the quickest way to solve it so everything can go back to normal, to be the free land he wants Mondstadt to be, a nation so loveable I fear everyone would stand to protect it, they have the knights, the Hexerzinkle, the church, Diluc, people up to protect Mond anytime, even with the simplicity a lot of players (including myself) often choose it as their favourite nation, I've never seen the same kind of appreciation for the rest of the nations, Mondstadt is home, the start of the travel, and it's all thanks to it's archon and it's people, even the way he doesn't appear as an archon to its citizens, in the presence of an archon they'd feel pressured, he wants them to be free not because he says so, that's not freedom, so he chooses being a bard, because people love music and calm down around it, Venti is probably the best archon out of all of them, even if he pretends not to be

God, yeah—the fandom has branded him a drunkard whom everyone hates, lol. But setting aside the alcohol issue—which is a whole other topic—he’s literally friends with the entire city; the people who aren't his friends are his fans (like the bards, or whatever). It makes me sad when people write him off as just a slacker or, conversely, as an all-powerful being—the strongest of the Archons. No, that’s just Venti, guys.

i hate people who go 'oh raiden was the only archon that felt like one' while the archon title itself is completely fictional. being archons does not mean having power over their people. raiden becomes her best version of herself as archon when she relieves some of the power she was holding over her people. all the nations have their own personal governments to keep the peace, the archons are their deities to guide and protect, not control. venti is a wonderful archon because he leads with his core morals, being freedom. he lets his people choose what they want. he protects them where it's needed and truly loves his children. morax guided his people to be strong, and literally shaped his nation to be prosperous and safe for his people, allowing them to have so many villages be across liyue instead of clustering near one area. ei, after realizing her incorrect ways of leading her people, (which is why i think it's weird people see her as the one that feels the most like an archon. is it just because she's cold? or is it because she has a more 'powerful aura'? i think she only seems that way because she ruled cruelly, ignoring her subjects unless they acted outside of her expectations. anyways id restart the sentence and ignore this small tangent) she begins to almost immediately try to understand the culture of her nation presently instead of focusing on the past. she becomes involved in her nation again and changes her perspective of eternity from forcible unchange to perseverance for the better of her people. nahida is young and only recently has been able to take her role as archon so its harder to evaluate how she uses her role for her people, but from what we have seen its clear that she fully intends to do whatever it takes to protect her people. she uses her wisdom to make deals and to learn more and share with her people. she solves the problems of her people by sharing information to keep them and help them feel safe. she gains information on threats by drastic means in order to put her people and loved ones safe. to me nahida feels the most like an 'archon'. she is present, presents rules for her people in order not to prosper and not control.

i think some people conflate worship with superiority or overt power. venti’s chosen not to rule in the traditional sense but they still love him anyway and that messes up people’s ideas of what godhood looks like imo 😭
