My pop was 92 and called me and when I got there he said” boy, make me a tomato sandwich and lets talk about how your about to run my affairs.” Then I cooked bacon and cut a fresh tomato and he laid out how tired he was and how he wanted me to do whatever thought was best for him and his stuff because he was done. I just started crying because knew he wasn’t gonna be here much longer. Passed 5 weeks later in his own house with me and my family by his side. Strongest Man I ever met,in my 42 years I saw him loose his son his daughter (my mom) his wife and 6 of his brothers. He only cried when maw passed. I miss our daily calls at 6 pm and weekly bullshit sessions on his back porch with all his ornery military buddies.

that's the thing about my dad. He would rather break his back than ask for help. And that's why I admire him so much

Been taking care of my disabled dad for 23 years, since I was 23. Gave up my early adulthood for it. Wouldn't have traded it for anything

I'm there now. Sucks realizing I'm on the backend of life. However now I realize not much matters except family.

jokes on you, that man only ever touched me twice. once behind the church and he told me not to tell, and once when he beat me to crap because I wouldn't get in the car with him when he was drinking. hope he's happier now than when he was alive, can't say he deserves it tho.
