I agree but if it doesn’t work out the kids suffer the loss too.

The bigger question is what is the end goal with the BF? Are you dating to Marry or just to date. You put your daughter in a position where she is having to adapt to your life decisions. Children don’t play those games. So if you’re not comfortable with her calling him dad you had no business bringing him around her.

Similar position with me and my ex. We started dating soon after the divorce, but kids dad still around and there were 3 “mother” figures between his new gf, bio mom, myself. The mom and I discussed and agreed that no one replaces a parent but the kids can otherwise choose how they want to call us. 3 kids, 3 diff names for me, all fine. Sometimes the kids would try to correct each other to use the same name. I told them to stop and each of us have our own relationship and to respect it. Still see the kids after the break up and give mom a break. Kids win when adults act like adults.

Working with kids I get called mom all the time, it's just what kid brains do.

Y’all means all :
I get the biggest ick from women pushing kids to call significant others ‘dad’ (men/girlfriends also though that dynamic is less common) but if it’s child led, my only recommendation as I’ve seen in comments already is to really assess boyfriend’s developing role so this sweet girl doesn’t lose two ‘dads’.

Absolutely 100% agree. Children learn who they can rely upon and who is there for them. He can’t be a part time Dad and expect full time titles.

The saying any man can be a father but it takes a special man to be a dad, this little one adores this man enough to see him as a dad figure

if her bio dad made more of an effort, this wouldn't be happening. There's no way i'd correct her.

My friend divorced an abusive man. Years later, she met and married a wonderful man. Her son said, “X is my father, but M is my dad. “

this exactly. as long as the title of "mom" or "dad" isn't being pushed onto the kids by the adults, then it's fine

I have a lot of kids that aren't mine that call me 'Mom' because that's what they chose to call me, not because I insisted. They're my kids' closest friends, and just feel close enough to me as a second Mom that that's their choice. It is what it is.

don't friend me :
as the other mom, a conversation DOES need to happen to reassure the kid what dad means and that is ok if she wants to call him that but she needs to for sure understand the difference and the importance. and i say as a mom to a kid thats not mine, he is more than comfortable calling me mom now but he was very confused about who to call dad bc that boundary was never defined for him
