I’m hung up on the fact that he chose a spiderweb design because he keeps spiders?? And it’s her cake?

People saying 'do it yourself' are missing the point. The present is the EFFORT and the THOUGHT, not the cake itself.

Anyway here's the almost identical cake my husband got me for my birthday after I'd been asking for one all year (in my favorite colors and flavors like a normal person)

My dad would always buy HIS favorite cake for MY birthday growing up. I hated it, and he would ask me why I barely had a bite. He knew I didn’t like it

the first comment?? I’m not American and it’s completely normal here to ask for a specific cake / pick one, most people want a birthday cake with stuff they like / the flavor they like😭

We’ve all been kids, and as kids we would ask our parents for specific gifts then when that day comes & that gift never happened we were all overwhelmed with disappointment. It’s okay to be disappointed, it’s okay to want specific things. It’s okay. He had months to prepare just like our parents did. People who procrastinate and don’t truly care about showing others that they care about them are the only ones who are mad at her for this.

people are also CONSTANTLY asking what kind of cake you want when you get older. Its not uncommon at all to start mentioning it first

She wanted a specific cake as her only gift from him for her birthday, and she asked for that specific cake. Yet he chose a cake that was nothing like what she wanted, and he put very little effort into achieving any cake for her at all. To me it looks like he forgot about buying the cake, so he rushed to the first bakery and saw they do a heart-shaped cake, so he asked them to just slap some butter icing (frosting) of any colour onto the cake, and include a spider design because HE likes spiders.

Why be so stubborn over a cake? Like why do men refuse to budge on such little things but expect women to give up their whole lives with and without a ring… like what

Maybe my standards are too high but that feels like a pretty normal/easy-ish cake to replicate for a professional bakery?? It’s not over the top or crazy in design and yet he managed to come up with something COMPLETELY different 😭

Day 1 of speedrunning an app to $10,000 a month. Current revenue: $0. A year and a half ago I was doing 14 hour shifts in a security booth at a construction site, teaching myself to code on a laptop between rounds. Those projects got me into Cornell, and Cornell got me into AI. Since then I’ve taught millions of people how to build with it, grown a following of over 600,000, and worked with some of the biggest AI companies in the world on their content. Here’s the part that bugs me. Everything I’ve ever built has been for me. Nobody has paid me a single dollar for something I made. That changes now. I’m not inventing an idea. I’m going on TrustMRR and Sensor Tower, finding something that already makes real money, and building a better version of it. Web app first, Next.js on Vercel, Supabase for the database, Stripe for payments, first version built on Emergent so I’m not wiring up logins for a week. Then I do the thing I’m actually good at. I have 12 editors behind me and a year of running distribution for AI unicorns, so I’m going to flood every platform with content and double down on whatever converts. The MVP is going to be ugly on purpose. I want real feedback in days, not a polished product nobody asked for in months. The $0 MRR counter in the corner stays on every episode until it moves. If you’ve built an app before and you’d do any of this differently, tell me in the comments. I’m reading all of them.
