@myphotojourney5: A brief history of the English language. Over 2,000 years, it was shaped by Brythonic Celtic speakers, Anglo-Saxon settlers, Christian monks, Viking raiders, Norman French nobles, printers, and scholars. From house and wife to they, them, beef and education, every word tells part of the story. The English language isn't just a way of speaking. It's the history of Britain preserved in words. #EnglishLanguage #LanguageHistory #Etymology #OldEnglish #MiddleEnglish #AngloSaxon #Vikings #NormanConquest #GreatVowelShift #HistoryTok #Linguistics #LearnOnTikTok #BritishHistory

Sadly there is only one sentence of Old Dutch laguage preserved. It was found in the leather stuffing of a book and is believed to be a testing of a new writing quill: Hebban olla uogala nestas higunnan hinase hic enda thu. Modern dutch: hebben alle vogels nesten begonnen behalve ik en jij. Eng: all birds have started nests except you and me

I am a Spanish speaker from Venezuela, but I speak German and English, and I also know Portuguese and Italian.
Your content should be mandatory worldwide. We all need to learn English; it's essential for the modern world and the future. Besides, it brings a lot of peace and a greater connection to your history.

Beautifully explained so thank you. There is a wonderful book, The Encyclopaedia of the English Language, by Prof. David Crystal which really goes into some detail about the development of our language.
