Take separate pictures of all your damaged items no matter how small or if it is old. Try to find purchase receipts and the replacement value for each item. Don’t worry if you can’t find an exact match try to find something comparable. If you elect to sue, name the tenant(s) and the apartment owner and management as they had a duty to inspect the apartments and should have discovered the illegal appliances. If you have to stay in a hotel add that cost, food costs, gasoline costs to get to your job, etc. If you have renters’ insurance and you receive a settlement that is less than your damages and out of pocket costs, sue same named people for the difference in what you loss minus reimbursement.
