Brown the beef Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook for 5–7 minutes, breaking it apart with a spoon until browned and cooked through. 2. Add onion and garlic Drain excess grease if necessary. Add the diced onion and cook for 2–3 minutes until softened. Add the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds. 3. Toast the rice Heat oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the uncooked rice and toast for 4–6 minutes, stirring frequently, until the rice becomes lightly golden. 2. Add onion and garlic Add the diced onion and cook for 2 minutes. Stir in the garlic and cook for about 30 seconds. 3. Add tomato sauce Pour in the tomato sauce and stir well. Cook for 1–2 minutes so the tomato flavor develops. 4. Add broth and seasoning Pour in the chicken broth. Add cumin, salt, black pepper, and chili powder. Stir once. 5. Simmer Bring the mixture to a gentle boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover tightly, and simmer for 18–20 minutes. 6.
