@director_ej: This month is Gullah Geechee heritage month, we honored the culture and the many enslaved folks and their descendants along the Low Country coast from North Carolina to northeast Florida. The Gullah Geechee people have retained a lot of culture by way of Africa while having their own linguistic heritage. The Gullah Geechee corridor is home to preserving one of America’s most unique and culturally rich Black communities. The McLeod Plantation once enslaved many Gullah Geechee ancestors and today it remains as a visual testimony of the forced labor Black folks endured in South Carolina. Be sure to study about the history, culture, and heritage of the Black folks along the Low Country and also learn about about the ongoing fight to preserve their ancestral lands in the mist of massive gentrification along the islands and coast in the southeast. Happy Gullah Geechee heritage month. #BlackHistory #blackhistory365 #gullahgeechee #History #lowcountry
