The 47-year-old TV chef shared a photo of herself at 19 and opened up about some of the painful events that shaped those years. She recalled being unknowingly given heroin while a burglar was robbing her mother’s home. She also said she became pregnant after taking drugs, and described a relationship with a man 12 years older than her that began when she was very young. Gizzi admitted she was responsible for some of the choices she made, but now sees that young woman very differently. “I thought I was very in charge of myself,” she wrote. “But this girl is still a baby.” Her comments come as she continues reflecting on a chaotic period in her life that included heavy partying, struggles with money and serious personal setbacks. Gizzi has also spoken about living with ADHD and difficult periods in her mental health, saying she eventually sought treatment and worked to rebuild her life. She says she no longer lives the way she did in her teens and early twenties. Instead, she is focused on moving forward — and trying to understand the younger version of herself with compassion rather than blame. Sometimes growing older does not just change how you live.
