@theirishmoneyguide: €300 a month for 20 years, and the new investment account came out about €26,000 ahead of ETFs held the normal way, even after Budget 2027 cut ETF tax from 38% to 35%. Up to €12,000 a year in, the first €50,000 tax-free, then 1% a year on the value above that, with no exit tax or deemed disposal. The catch: that 1% is on your balance, not your profit, so you pay it even in a down year. Accounts should open around next summer, so save this for then and tell me in the comments if you're opening one. #Budget2027 #ETFInvesting #InvestingIreland #PersonalFinanceIreland #IrishFinance

My question is why are we paying tax on money that’s already been taxed through payroll 🫠 investing net pay and calling it gross just so you can tax again is scandalous

It’s a joke, they took the worst part of the UK isa (annual limit) and the worst part of the Swedish isk (1% wealth tax) and combined them into an even worse investment product
