@michael.carr.coac: I had to ask myself a difficult question: Have I become a safe haven for someone else’s bad behavior? Sometimes, we become so understanding, forgiving, and accommodating that people learn they can treat us poorly without consequences. But I’m realizing that being loving doesn’t mean being available for disrespect. I don’t have to keep making space for behavior that hurts me just because I understand where it comes from. I can have compassion without abandoning myself. I can love someone and still have boundaries.
