@rev.dr_sc.williams: There is no distinction in the Levitical law between moral, civil, and ceremonial. Christians need to stop with this narrative #deconstruction #leviticus #progressivechristian #christian #exvangelical

The Old Testament laws do not apply to Christians, because our identity is not based on the Law, but on our baptism.

What percentage of the people who make this up for Leviticus would describe themselves as textualists when it comes to the Constitution?

The word “Trinity” isn’t in the Bible either, yet Christians use it to describe a doctrine they believe is taught throughout Scripture. For example, Matthew 28:19 names the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit together; John 1:1–3 describes the Word as being with God and as God; John 20:28 records Thomas addressing Jesus as “My Lord and my God”; and Acts 5:3–4 connects lying to the Holy Spirit with lying to God. Christians synthesize passages like these into the theological doctrine called the Trinity. We don’t reject the Trinity simply because Scripture doesn’t explicitly give us that label; we examine whether the concept accurately summarizes the biblical evidence. The same principle applies to the ceremonial, civil, and moral distinctions within the law. The New Testament discusses these matters in distinguishable ways. Ceremonial: Hebrews 7:11–12 discusses the Levitical priesthood and a change in the law, Hebrews 9:1–14 describes sanctuary regulations and ceremonial purification, Hebrews 10:1–14 discusses sacrifices, Mark 7:18–19 addresses food purity, and Colossians 2:16–17 discusses festivals, new moons, and Sabbaths. Civil: Romans 13:1–7 addresses governing authorities and their role in maintaining public order, while John 18:31 illustrates the question of Roman jurisdiction over executions. Moral: Matthew 5:17–48 addresses moral commandments, Romans 13:8–10 summarizes commandments concerning our neighbors through love, Galatians 5:19–23 contrasts sinful conduct with the fruit of the Spirit, and Ephesians 4:25–32 gives practical moral instructions. These passages provide biblical material for distinguishing ritual regulations, civil authority, and moral obligations. The three different categories are a theological framework for organizing those distinctions; it does not require the Bible to list the three labels together in a single verse. Just as the absence of the word “Trinity” does not, by itself, disprove the doctrine, the absence of the exact phrase “ceremonial, civil, and moral law” does not, by itself, disprove the distinctions. Anyways have a wonderful everyone and remember God loves you!!!!!!!!

Devoted to Doctrine :
This objection confuses the absence of an explicit technical formulation with the absence of a legitimate conceptual distinction. The absence of an explicit biblical classification does not establish that the classification is arbitrary or invalid. A distinction can be a legitimate theological inference if it accurately reflects distinctions present in the biblical text.

Oh Reverend, the categories aren’t in the Bible! They’re whatever the Christian in question decides they are.

No? really? Not the fact that the word "Testament" literally means contract/agreement? and the fact that there is. "New Testament" literally means that the "Old Testament" or contract has been either satisfied or annulled? That's not substantial enough for ya Rev?

I’m having a struggle with my church wanting to switch to the NALC (Lutheran church). The pastors seem to be really heavy on “Bible based” and things in the Bible being “straight forward” mostlyyyyy (and conveniently) when it comes to the definition of marriage and being gay. I don’t think anything in the Bible is super straight forward except “love thy neighbor.” How can we ignore other things in the Bible while taking everything else literally and without historical context. 😩😩😩 I know they’re way more educated than I am in theology but we gonna tussle.

it's very simple: the laws I want to still make people follow are moral laws, while the laws I don't want to have to follow are civil/ceremonial.

one point rev. I grew up in a mostly Armenian pentecostal tradition, and I DEFINITELY was taught the moral/civil/ceremonial distinction. So, not a straight up divide between Armenian and Calvanist on this one 😬
