Don’t put the water in before the potatoes. The water needs to just cover them.

I loved potatoes but I can't heavily salt the water anymore. High blood pressure and a warning from my doctor to cut out salt 😞

top tip - using a frying pan to heat your oil is much quicker than the oven, then simply pour the oil over your potatoes.

You left out a major one - roughing them up after they've steam dried

All those good tips then you cook them in veg oil! Unhealthy crap oil! You should use beef dripping or goose fat! Great flavour!

Two questions...
1. Do you bring them to the boil on a high heat and reduce to a fast simmer or let the simmer come up from a medium high heat?
2. When do you count the 15 minutes from? The boil or in to the water?

creator, here is a wonderful way to explain why potatoes should be cooked from cold to hot, I heard this once: if it grows underground it cooks cold to hot, if it grows above ground, the water should be hot!

Poppy, QUEEN of the potato...can I request a dumplings video? I've craved dumplings that I think I've only had once before but really really want again

This made me feel so good as a self taught chef/baker the only thing I didn’t know was the amount of water but what you said really helps with that, but everything else I’d been doing. I’m following now, loved this video!

I use Roosters potatoes. After boiling and draining, I rough them up by sprinkling a little plain flour on them and shaking them in the collander. I turn them regularly, roast for 45 mins they’re lovely and crispy 😊

Nah. Into hot water then fluff them up in the pan before putting them into the oven. Makes a crispier outside
