@traveling.doctor: As an ER physician, here’s what I want everyone to know: 1️⃣ Keep them safe. Move nearby objects away and, if possible, gently guide them away from danger. 2️⃣ Protect their head. Place something soft underneath their head. 3️⃣ Turn them onto their side when you can safely do so. This can help keep their airway clear, especially after the seizure. 4️⃣ TIME THE SEIZURE. ⏱️ This is extremely important. Note when it starts and how long it lasts. 5️⃣ Stay with them. When the seizure stops, stay nearby and reassure them. They may be confused or very sleepy afterward. ❌ DO NOT restrain them. ❌ DO NOT put anything in their mouth. ❌ DO NOT try to give them food, water, or medication while they're actively seizing. 🚑 Call emergency services if the seizure lasts 5 minutes or longer, another seizure starts before they recover, they have difficulty breathing or don't wake up afterward, they are seriously injured, the seizure happened in water, or it is their first known seizure. And remember: you don't need to stop the movements. Your job is to prevent injury, protect their airway as safely as possible, and get help when needed. Save this. You might need it someday. ❤️ This is general medical education and does not replace emergency medical care. #healthylifestyle
