HERE IT IS 👇🏻 🙄We all know the frustration when you’re trying to have conversations with the someone but your children constantly interrupt. 🫠You leave feeling like it was all a bit pointless & unknowingly your patience is worn down from the hard work that experience was. ‼️ Here’s a Pro Tip from my own mother (who raised 6 of us!) to help teach children how they can get your attention without interrupting your conversation: 1️⃣ Tell them before you go out that if they have something to say they need to put their hand on your arm/shoulder & wait for you to acknowledge them before speaking. This includes saying “mummy, mummy, mummy”. 2️⃣ Put your own hand on top of theirs as recognition of them & it’s a great way to say “I know you’re there” without immediately pausing your conversation at an inappropriate time, hence encouraging them to wait because they know that you know they’re there. 3️⃣ They sit/stand there & wait for you to turn to them & say “Yes, (name), what did you need?”, then they can say all the wacky & wonderful things they need to say or ask until they’re finished. 👉🏻 Unless it’s an emergency or urgent, in which case they have full permission to speak or yell to get our attention. 🙏🏻 This is what we’re teaching our children. We see it as respectful not to interrupt, learn ‘time & place’, plus it teaches social etiquette & that they aren’t the most important person in the room… which children often forget while they’re wrapped up in their own little bubbles. It’s not a bad thing but awareness of others is also important. 👀 In this clip my husband & I were in a conversation with my mother when Solly came & put his arm on Jordan’s shoulder waiting to tell us about something he saw. He’s 6 years old. 🙏🏻It will take consistency & determination to teach this skill to a child who’s not used to it, not quite so much for a younger child who’s just learning to socialise, but I can guarantee it’s so worth it - for your sanity, for the etiquette, for the other people you’re speaking with & for your patience levels. 📲SHARE to another parent to try this 📲FOLLOW for more twin & parenting tips! #parentingtips #parenting
