I feel like this is kinda disrespectful to say given how heavily involved his friends and family was in the documentary…

It literally keeps us in the same cycle (trauma/suffering/grief and loss) and distracts us from actually mobilising together to seek real change!!! It’s defo a systemic tactic that works everytime😭😭😭

Yes, I agree, no disrespect to his family, but it's worth considering.

I hear you, however the point of most documentaries are to inform. Those of a certain age certainly remember the harrowing details of the Damilola case, however much of the younger generation aren’t too aware of his story. As traumatic as it was it isn’t a disservice to honour his memory and the important discussions that arise out of documentaries like this

i also want to know what their intention was, BUT i think its good reminder. because even though lur communities have made progress, there are still ways to go.
plus it makes sense to release it now as its black history month, and also a month prior to the anniversary so it'll give people time to watch it and have their thoughts. also because city violence, child crimes etc .. they all still relevant.
i get it'd be hard for some to watch, but its good to keep the motion on this.

let's be honest, if his killers were yt nobody would be upset about the documentary ..... the document has come out at a time when we are still seeing young black boys unaliving young black boys. nothing has changed.

It's the BBC, right? Professional ragebaiters. They chose this topic at this particular time because Black history month is supposed to be about joy and accomplishments but instead this "documentary" reopens wounds and has already started diaspora wars in some comment sections of videos talking about this show.
If anybody truly cares to know the details of this case, BBC is NOT the place to seek answers.
We need people to not watch it because why is Black tragedy treated as entertainment? Also, don't fall for the diaspora wars in the comment sections.
