This is a painful orthopedic injury that requires prompt surgical intervention to properly stabilize the fracture and support appropriate healing. Shadow will need intramedullary (IM) pinning to repair the fracture and help restore proper function of his leg. Without timely surgical treatment, he is at risk for ongoing pain, improper healing, and potential long-term mobility complications. This level of specialized orthopedic surgery and postoperative recovery support exceeds what we can consistently provide in the shelter environment. Shadow needs a safe, compassionate placement where he can receive immediate veterinary and orthopedic evaluation, surgical repair with IM pinning, and appropriate postoperative care to restore his comfort and mobility.
