@leokatiecbt: 1. Sending a text & not getting a response 👻 OCD: Your brain starts analyzing every possible meaning. Did I do something wrong? Did I offend them? Instead: Pause before reacting. Don’t reread it, ask for reassurance, or text again just to reduce anxiety. Let the uncertainty be there & return to what you were doing. 2. Leaving the house 🤔 OCD: Did I lock the door? Did I turn the stove off? Even if you checked already, OCD can make the doubt feel impossible to ignore. Instead: Do one intentional check, then leave. When the urge to go back shows up, practice letting the uncertainty exist without checking again (this includes checking pics!), even if the anxiety stays. 3. Feeling a random physical sensation 🫀 OCD: A headache, a weird feeling in your chest, a small pain somewhere, & suddenly your mind is spiraling into worst-case scenarios. Instead: Notice the sensation without immediately scanning, Googling, or seeking reassurance. Try to just let the feeling be there & tend to the symptoms if needed, without diagnosing a “hidden cause.” 4. Intrusive thoughts 💭 OCD: One unwanted thought can make OCD sound the alarm, convincing you it says something about who you are or what might happen. Instead: Don’t debate, neutralize, confess, or prove the thought wrong. Label it as just a thought & let it pass through without treating it like a threat. 5. Bad memories & “scary stories” 🧩 OCD: OCD digs up old memories or stories of bad things happening & asks: What if that means you’re a bad person? What if that happens to you? Cue hours of replaying, analyzing, mentally checking... Instead: Resist the urge to review every detail or confess or analyze... Try responding, “Maybe, maybe not,” & focusing on the present. OCD gets louder when you try to get 100% certainty. That’s why healing often starts with doing the opposite: noticing the fear & moving forward anyway. Reacting this way is not easy, but it is achievable with time & practice. I research OCD & made two apps that help build these skills: - RumiNot for OCD help - PeachyTalks for Relationship OCD Search in the App Store & Play Store <3 #rocd #ocd #HealingJourney #rumination #anxiety
