Bradford Crown Court heard that Aaron Purewal, of no fixed address and formerly of Well Street near Little Germany, targeted the woman in the Bradford area. Purewal carried out multiple rapes, suffocated her, and strangled her during a campaign of terrifying abuse. Following an inquiry by West Yorkshire Police, Purewal stood trial at Bradford Crown Court. After deliberating for nine hours and 23 minutes, the jury returned guilty verdicts on 10 counts: five counts of rape, two counts of assault by penetration, intentional suffocation, intentional strangulation, and sexual assault. He was acquitted of four further charges. The court sentenced Purewal to a 25-year extended sentence to ensure long-term public protection, ordered him to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life, and imposed strict safeguarding orders.
