@offenceregister: Predatory Rapist Carl Thomson Jailed For Eight Years After Airport Arrest 👇 FULL CASE DETAILS BELOW 👇 Predatory rapist Carl Thomson, aged 55, now of Portishead, has been sentenced to eight years' imprisonment after sexually assaulting and raping a woman inside her own home. Exeter Crown Court heard Thomson, who was residing in Paignton at the time, first connected with the victim online in March 2023. In early April, the pair met for a walk and dinner so she could introduce him to the local area. Thomson began sending increasingly sexualised messages before visiting her home on 13 April 2023, where he subjected her to a sustained attack, raping and sexually assaulting her. The victim stated she was forced to submit out of profound fear for her personal safety. The survivor reported the crimes on 18 April 2023, prompting Devon and Cornwall Police to intercept and arrest Thomson at Bristol Airport. Although Thomson claimed the sexual contact was consensual, a jury rejected his account. On Friday 2 October, His Honour Judge Patrick convicted Thomson of rape, assault by penetration, and sexual assault, handing him an eight-year custodial term and placing him on the Sex Offenders Register for life.
