Here’s the thing. If I give you 8hrs to complete a certain amount of tasks and you can complete those tasks and have extra time left over, I see no problem with you doing something that you need to do during the day. As long as the work set out for you, is done by the end of the day and is done properly, who really cares what you are doing

A pipe burst above my apartment, the complex didn’t do anything, it grew mold and I got hella sick and then was fighting with the complex for weeks and it was taking a lot of time away from work and I was crashing at another employees guest room. My CEO had finally had it, marched down there, bought me out of my lease, helped with my deposit on the new place and hired movers. Never asked for it back, never cut my pay or took it out of my PTO, never brought it up again. He just knew that I was more valuable in the building supporting the goals of the company and he could have my full attention if he supported my basic needs.

I worked for someone like you once. Everyone was so loyal. We made sure his business was successful. Yes imma guy but I cried leaving that employer because I had to relocate. I still talk to him and he also cried when I left 😭
