@sonyadolguinacpa: Replying to @moreyclan5 Because many physicians are incorporated, the impact of this proposed tax increase may be minimal. It all depends on how much money people are earning individually. #bc #britishcolumbia #doctors #taxplanning #tax
It seems like most of the fear-mongering around the NDP tax hikes are based on people not understanding how our tax system works and overestimating how much money they will earn this year 🫠

We as healthcare professionals are already paying 54 percent as are most of our colleagues. Really need to be in the same position to talk or pass judgement . You are just making more physicians especially the young want to move to the US especially the lower tax states, Fed up with politicians and their manipulation :(

I would be curious to know how many are actually incorporated, given that a significant number of doctors bring in $250K or less. A lot of GPs aren’t close to the higher numbers…

He also paused the inflation indexing of provincial income tax brackets. So basically everyone will pay more taxes, he is double dipping!

Only issue is when you dissolve your corporation you only have a 1million $ tax exemption… also, if you invest the money that’s in the corporation into stocks or or other means of passive income, you’ll get taxed at higher rates than personal capital gains rates. So in short, you’re screwed either way… voting has repercussions and this is a good way to find out 😂

Year over year doctor salaries are lower compared to what they made before but cost of education keeps increasing. Why task our highly educated group and not the corporations making billions. Wouldn’t that have a better benefit in terms of collections?

What is the common practice they do? Issuing low dividend/salary over the years and sell the practice for cap gain? Or keep the money in incorporation and slowly draw it out after retiring?

They are still taxed when they disburse their salary or dividends out. It’s not all about drs anyways. It’s a tax to hurt successful workers to pay for NDP failures.

The fact that people here are fine with tax increases of any sort for anyone when we are so over taxed is insane. It’s become normalized and the fact that this is even hitting doctors is CRAZY!! Yall lost the plot and I’m liberal AF. Starting to think conservative is the way cause like what do you mean increase taxes??????!!!!!???

Eby must have got this idea when campaigning in the tent cities his policies have created. Taxation is out of control in Canada and excessive in the extreme in BC.
