Bro went to a Dior sample sale a few years back and bought £450 sunglasses for £50! THAT is a sample sale.

I worked at ASOS 10 years ago and we had a sample sale every Wednesday and everything was between £1-£5

Kai Colllective, Yagi World, Coucoo the list goes on. Sample sales are HEAVILY discounted. I remember going to the Christian Louboutin sample sale and getting £1k shoes RRP for £250. 20% off isn’t a sample sale and I don’t understand when we started accepting this.

I’m still shocked people were queuing for hours to buy clothes? Then the brand released content of influencers/their friends getting their pieces without the rush and sipping wine. Crazy

I agree. I definitely got carried away by the hype and spent more than I should’ve on clothes that are still available online 😩 won’t be standing in a queue for 3 hours again. Love Kai and it was an experience but never again

This was a beautiful breakdown of the subject 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾. I also love that you wore a Kai top so people know it’s not hate but constructive critique of the subject

I’ve been thinking about this for so long! Also sample sales traditionally are meant to be heavily discounted, normally 50% and above!

It was really just a sale and a pop up. No sample in sight 😕

Sample sales aren’t what they once was. Sample sale prices are like £700 to £50!! That is sample prices. Not 30% off loooool

Couldn’t agree more, no hate but it wasn’t a sample sale at all

Thank you! I think a lot of owners do confuse sample sale with just a sale or even a pop up. Doing 10%-20% isn’t a sample sale. Deffo more of a marketing ploy (which I get), but let’s just call it that

Yeppp a lot of these sample sales now are pure marketing ploys, you can not call it a sample sale and have items at 10% off?? Some brand’s offer a better discount when you sign up to their email list 🤣 Also, traditional sample sales would not have current bestsellers on sale (unless it’s an old design that had been updated or had not been released), so it’s just a further push to drive sales of bestsellers, as you said with your top which is still available for full price (which people will still buy!). It’s a great community and world builder, but sample sales are not what they used to traditionally be. Great video!

As a former junior buyer. I realised sample sales were not what l was used to. We use to sell the samples we had in the sample cupboard for past seasons going for 10-25£, and the sizes were limited to the fit model’s size. it was usually sold to company workers first , and then extended to people in the industry only. I use to get invited to a Nike one.

The Kai sample sale in Dalston that year was DIRT cheap! I need to be seeing items for £30 lol. 😂 Saying that, I went to a Jo Malone one and got perfume for £20 quid!!

I’ve been going to sample sales for the past 20years and the prices were dirt cheap but in the last 10 years the prices are no different from sales prices most times. Not as fun anymore!
