same thing happened to me but I was in Paris! 😭 I thought my passport was lost/stolen. went to the embassy to get info & they started the process without me actually confirming. I got back to the hotel & found my passport. when i tried to leave Paris with my passport, they said I couldn't so I had yo extend my stay. go back to the embassy and get an emergency purple passport. it was hectic & expensive. now i know to double check before doing anything. 😭
