BACKSTORY: Linda Stephens, a 70-year-old retired Florida educator, sued MidFlorida Credit Union after a dispute over a missing $600 ATM deposit escalated into police being called. She was arrested for disorderly conduct and spent the night in jail, but prosecutors later declined to pursue the criminal charge. She alleged racial discrimination and said she was falsely treated as though she had a gun; no gun was found. She filed a civil lawsuit in 2023, but I haven’t found a reliable public record showing that she won a verdict or received a publicly disclosed settlement.

What’s breaking my heart is that she had to grow up with the segregation and racism hoping that things would be better for the children of the future, years go by and it shows nothing had changed.
