I’m from WA and I always just go, I’ve been dancing in powwows off and on since I was a tiny tot. I’ve mostly just experienced people ignoring me. but at a college powwow in Seattle I’ve actually had a mother come up to me with her mixed black and native daughter too to talk to me and take a picture with me bc she was so excited to see someone who looks like her dancing too. You really just have to do it, I feel anxious a lot but I don’t let it stop me bc I belong in community too and ik where I’m from and who my family is.

anything on the east coast tbh. I grew up on the trail over here, and my family is black native a lot of the tribes here are Hella mixed. particularly anything hosted by Rehawk Native American Council!

Comanche nation powwows are so so accepting. Never have a problem attending any powwow within Comanche county!!

A lot of the tribes in Oklahoma are very mixed. The Comanche Nation, Cherokee Nation etc.

California powwows!! There are a lot of spectators and a diverse group of dancers though I have mixed feelings about the competition part but for the most part it’s all inclusive. Cali powwows also means bird singing and dancing sessions 🤭💃

If you ever come up to Canada, especially Winnipeg, Manitoba, then there is a powwow there called Manito Ahbee. And it's so much fun and inclusive. I don't here every year. This year it's hosted during Halloween weekend.
