we do the respect thing unless the person does not deserve it... no locking the doors incase of an emergency but absolutely close your door and KNOCK & WAIT UNTIL YOU HEAR "COME IN" at any closed door in the house. My kids can cuss whenever but they knw when and where they should watch what they say

I do have my adult children help me sometimes with a few bills here and there. But other than that they have to pay for their own bills ( phone and car) and they have to keep putting money into a savings account.
