Now, Sorkin has logged back on to write, and also direct, The Social Reckoning — the first sequel in his long and punchy career. Social media, he says, defends itself by saying criticism is “the same as the panic over TV, radio, even cars. This is different. This is pumping misinformation into the air like crazy. Facebook discovered that the algorithm can increase engagement by giving things to reshare that make people angry.
