The crash happened on Monday morning, 5 October 2026, just past the Vleesbaai turn-off in the direction of Cape Town. The overturned truck and trailer came to rest across all four lanes of the N2, resulting in the highway being closed in both directions. A secondary collision was subsequently reported after other vehicles collided with the overturned trailer. Emergency services responded to the scene, with patients treated before some were transported to a hospital in Mossel Bay for further medical attention.
