@rickythesteadyinvestor: Everyone loves saying “I told you so” after a stock moves. SpaceX fell below its IPO price and suddenly the people who said not to buy it looked right. Now it’s back above its IPO price. So were they wrong? That’s the point: we don’t know yet. IPOs are especially difficult because there’s very little public trading history to help us understand how the stock behaves when sentiment changes. Historical performance doesn’t predict the future — but it does give us context. With a brand-new stock, we have even less of it. My approach: build the core of your portfolio around diversified, fundamentally sound investments. If you have a strong thesis on something speculative, understand the downside, can hold for years, and size it small enough that being very wrong won’t derail your financial plan… take the flyer. Being a Steady Investor doesn’t mean eliminating every risk. It means understanding the risks you’re taking and building a portfolio you can actually stick with.
