Hearing you say these things shock me, because you are so right in all that you've said. I am from Manchester grew up in 60s and 70s and went to school in the 60s/70s. When Africans would come to our schools from Africa, we looked ater them as Caribbean black children and getting to know each other was powerful. We would have black friends and was'nt always aware which country the parents came from because it did'ng always matter. I am of Jamaican descent and my best friend was of African descent and we are still best friends even in our 60s. I watched the documentary and to be honest I was reminded of how ashamed I was to be of Jamaican descent, thinking about Damilola. I loved his name and loved how he had that skip in his step and so full of life. Until we black people start loving each other as one, and treating each other with respect, maybe we should not be complaining about racism from any other race. All black music or other should be celebrated by all people if it is to your taste.

I’ve personally met Damiola Taylor’s father at an event, as a few people I knew benefitted from his scholarship, and are now qualified doctors. Even then I could see the pain in his eyes from losing his son.

Agree. Just seeing/hearing some Caribbeans acknowledging that their roots originate from Africa, seeing people from Africa and the Caribbean come together makes me very hopeful for the future. I do feel like things have really changed in comparison to the early 2000s 🙏🏾 we come a very long way and we do still have some way to go. Black people, we truly only have each other regardless if you’re African, Caribbean, Afro Latin, African American

I see some of us are tussling in the comments and I would like to reiterate. We are rooting for everybody BLACK around here. Do not let your hurt feelings cause you to become a hateful person, especially to your own kind. 🖤

It’s only igniting diaspora wars because Caribbeans don’t wanna take accountability. They been screaming in the comments we were beggin tryna be Jamaican meanwhile the whole time some of us were doing it to not get bullied

Ask the question who are in control of the Editorial in the BBC. Who wants the world busy fighting each other and not focusing on their genocide. Wake up black people you’re getting played. Ask question don’t just react. We are being manipulated.
