@rebelwithoutadrink: The ADHD nervous system is interest based, rather than importance based… when we get totally in the zone in hyper focus mode we can accomplish anything #adhd #adhdtiktok #ADHDinwomen #quitdrinking
A better, more scientifically accurate name for ADHD would be Dopamine Regulation Disorder (DRD)

It’s a dopamine deficiency which leads to executive dysfunction with tasks we don’t care about.

I wonder if other people with ADHD are similar to me in that they cannot stay in jobs they do not like or enjoy.

I think Executive Regulation Disorder would be a much better name. So many of the “ADHD” traits, like attention, motivation, hyperfocus, seem to come back to difficulties with regulation in some way.

It’s a two factor system. First is motivation, the second is executive function.

I don’t have dopamine and pleasure from anything anymore. Not even the things that interest me. Not attention span.

Yes, this! I also had a thought the other day that sometimes what’s going on in my head is so persuasive that I can’t ignore it and have to see it through to which completion before I can switch my attention to something in the external world

I just made a call, put on hold, I started cleaning the kitchen while waiting, forgot I was on hold/phone, jumped out of my skin when someone started talking in my ear 😂

Soo many speakers reiterate unnecessary and antiquated information which we can see through quickly and if they don’t make a novel point (away from a fucking power point type presentation) we’re done. I use my sketch pad. I have many drawings of fellow bored listeners.

I think it can be a trauma response. Being on guard to everything around you. I learned this from my dog who spent the first year of her life on the streets.

I like this shift in perception and it is so so so hard to get others to understand that I simply can’t just “grin and bear it” - or focus on command . It’s like a cement wall encases my brain and nothing is gonna get thru
