My MUM did this on my wedding day without my knowledge. They took pics of her and her siblings. I only noticed it because the Wedding photographer sent them with the rest of our pics. sadly I had no backbone back then... [Verlegen] BUT.. my husband made her pay a part of it. [Großes LOL]

This wedding I went to years ago, their thank you gift to the guests was that they set up a space and took family photos of all the guests. They were printed and presented to us at the end. I thought that was really lovely. That said, what kind of audacity do you have to request this

My husband and I took our kids to his cousins wedding. We… as in my husband and I… went outside to take some photos of ourselves and the kids (yay for cellphone timers!). The cousin saw us out there while they were taking photos and we very consciously wanted to stay out of the way for their photos…. And THEY said “We got you!” And insisted on taking a couple shots of us and then we skedaddled out of the way so they could keep taking pictures…. And the happy newly weds made sure we got the photos 🥰🥰 we also tipped the photographer after she took our photos. All that to say - we NEVER expected photos. But we definitely appreciated them ❤️

My wedding photographer asked “the family of the couple” to stay back for some family photos. My husband’s aunt grabbed all 3 of her grown children, their spouses, and their kids because “well you said family” the photographer laughed at her and said “yeah immediate family, go get a beer” she was pissed and tried to complain. Everyone told her she was crazy

Isn't it custom to take one group picture, and additional photographs of every family constellation you can think of? I mean aunts only, uncles only, his family, her family, all the kids, everyone above 70.... Why not spare one hour, or half an hour, where everyone is at one spot anyway, ready to go in and out of every picture as requested? It is a lot of fun, and people will love those pictures as an additional memory to a great day.

even if there is a gap between the ceremony and the reception the photographer will not have free time she'll spend a bit of time with the couple in that free time getting their private couple photos that they want they may also use that time to grab certain family members to get private pictures with the bride and groom, once that's done the photographer will head to the reception and get canded shots of the guests before getting the shots of the bride and groom entering their venue as the new Mr&MRS, the photographer will not have time to do any extra work that wasn't put in the contract so the aunt might as well pay for her own photographer for a time in those 2hrs to get the family shots she wants or she can ask another guest that they know to take a few family photos and send them over to their phones

My best friend just got married she asked me to grab my kids and my husband and asked the photographer to take a couple pictures of us together so we had a nice picture it was the nicest thing and I thanked her so many times I would’ve never used her wedding as a family photo opportunity

My sister in law wanted to use the wedding photographer that my parents paid for to take family photos WITHOUT ME IN THEM because I was “barely part of the family at that point”. My parents literally laughed in her face. My mother in law was so mad at her for even thinking like that. We’re no contact with her.

we had family that did this at the our wedding (without asking us or any heads up). they actually did it during the time we were supposed to be doing family photos with all the family's together with us and as the 2 sides together. which we never got those photos we wanted, we also did not get couples photos, we were late to our reception, we had zero bridesmaids photos together either. it was terrible..honestly we wanted a whole wedding redo after everything that happen between this, wedding party members tried to get him to leave me at the alter, day of coordinators broke our display pieces and ended up having my family decorate. I could go on & on..if we were so happy to be married we would have nothing positive to look back on

My brother is a photographer and just shot our step bros wedding. There was a delay in one of the “mini shoots” (grwm) so my brother said anyone with an iPhone 17 could take the pics as it takes photos just as good quality as his expensive camera. So I stepped up and took them then sent them to my brother for him to edit.

Photographer actually doing a client’s wedding Sunday. Idea: ask photographer if they have a coworker who could do JUST THEM for like $250-300 for like 10-15mins and they pay that 2nd shooter and edit their images alone. Wedding editing is A NIGHTMARE!!!! (Oh and tip if you can if you love the images)

Ok hear me out, I would call the photographer and ask if they were interested. If they are taking a break at that time and could make some extra money they might be interested. I would call and put it forward to the photographer that you can give the family a price to have this service done and then that way if the family calls the photographer and tries something (I've watched way too many stories lol) the photographer is also in the loop. I personally would rather make an extra bit of money than take a break if i was already there but i wouldn't do it free of charge. If the photographer agrees and the family wants to pay the extra, its a win win.
