I've read the book and I remember her skin clearing up but I don't remember any description of her getting skinny, can you provide quotes or references? I'm genuinely asking.

Which also adds to the symbolism because with the pigs blood, they’re basically say you can make yourself look so pretty but it’s like lipstick on a pig oh my God yeah that adds to the symbolism to it! And I think one person here even mentioned that fat in the 70s it is extremely subjective. Like Carrie could literally be a bit curvy and that would be seen as fat.

I get what you mean but I do need to see a fat carrie burn down her bullies as a big girl myself but I understand that the world just never is ready for fucking change and to be held accountable.

It seems this new show is taking some cues from Tiffany Jackson's The Weight of Blood, which is an adaptation of Carrie, and that has explained nearly every "it's not book accurate" argument

You hit Carrie from the book right on the head. I read the book and I was like “woah”. Definitely built the tension to Carrie’s prom.

It’s like abductions of the musical the actress who plays, Carrie is sometimes kind of like medium belt, and then they put her in spanks

At the time, the book was written a woman who was like a 140 and average. Height would have been considered fat. so honestly, that description of her I have never paid attention to mostly because I don't trust it.

I hate it but it’s a fact that they can’t make a fat person sympathetic. Like yeah everyone would feel bad for her, but nobody would be on her side

No, you’re right now’s probably not the time 😬🫠 I mean I would love a book accurate unlikable fat pimply zealot Carrie that pushes audiences to hold the nuances of an imperfect victims, but now is probably not the climate for it

Fun fact, Carrie was based on two girls Stephen King knew growing up, one of which tragically took her own life due to bullying. In his memoir “on writing” he laments that he didn’t speak out or make friends with her and that she’d never know her story inspired the book that launched his career.

Also, I’m sorry but I really don’t want a new plus sized actress to have to deal with the internet’s response to seeing a more plus sized Carrie when most of the general audience is gonna have the previous movies as a frame of reference. I just know they’d prove to be just like the bullies in the worst ways imaginable

omg, can Jennifer see Carrie when she was a plus sized girl?!?! I feel like she'd treat her so sweetly because Carrie feels like so herself that she doesn't have to worry too hard on her figure.
