This was worth every penny 😭 Shelter bio: Broccoli came to us on October 14th as a euthanasia request after becoming paralyzed following an untreated injury. Despite everything he's been through, Broccoli has shown incredible spirit and determination. He loves smelling the grass and playing outside. He's been diagnosed with IVDD (Intervertebral Disc Disease) - a spinal condition that occurs when the cushioning discs between the vertebrae herniate or slip, putting pressure on the spinal cord. This can cause weakness or paralysis in the back legs, as well as changes in sensation or mobility. While some dogs lose the ability to walk, many can regain function and live happy, comfortable lives with rehabilitation, physical therapy, and supportive care. Broccoli currently has some sensation in his hind legs, voluntary tail movement, and is able to urinate on his own, which gives him a hopeful prognosis. With time, patience, and the right therapies - like acupuncture, laser therapy, and gentle exercises - he has a real chance of improving further. He would do best in a foster or adoptive home that can provide daily TLC and help him attend therapy sessions. He will also benefit from a wheelchair for mobility and a protective body suit to prevent skin irritation as he moves around.
