@dailyrefinement: The future of live selling is unpredictable. TikTok Shop and Whatnot are both constantly changing. Fees change. Policies change. Traffic changes. And ultimately, these platforms can decide where they send traffic at any time. That doesn’t mean I think you should split your focus and try to become great at both simultaneously. In fact, I generally believe the opposite: Put all your eggs in one basket—and watch that basket very carefully. Pick the platform that is working best for your business and go all in. Learn the algorithm. Build your audience. Protect your account health. Become exceptional at that platform instead of mediocre at two. But I still want insurance. I want my TikTok Shop account set up, healthy, and ready to sell. I want my Whatnot account set up, healthy, and ready to sell. If traffic shifts, policies change, or something happens to one account, I don’t want to spend the next month figuring out another platform from scratch. I want to be able to switch over and keep selling. Concentrate your effort. Diversify your options. After almost five years of live selling, one thing I’ve learned is that nothing works for sure, and nothing works forever. The sellers who survive the changes are the ones who can adapt.

Hey Chris - really interesting insights! I’ve been following you since the early days on WN. (I was a WN contractor running the old school raid trains we used to do in womenswear, so we probably exchanged a few emails.) I went back to selling full-time in Y2K in 2024, and it’s going great, but I’m definitely curious about TikTok auctions. Will be following along.

After my main job slows down I want to start selling items on TikTok that I’ve purchased over the last two years that I absolutely love. What is your advice for me selling out of my house. Do you think I should do lives? Or should I do videos and post them on my account? What do you think would make me more money. I have a ton of kitchen gadgets that I’ve purchased and I use every single day. I’m obsessed with anything kitchen. I have cups I have plates. I have coffee makers. The list goes on and on. I would love to make a a second income from TikTok. Thank you for any advice you can give.

I've followed you & WN sellers for years along with zk, 2 dollar guy, and t_h married couple, Westcoast married couple, catico...etc. I buy too. I have the opinion that higher starts for og's should have been implemented long, long ago. You guys should never go backwards to $1 starts. Og's should be setting the benchmark, like a luxury home in the housing market but it seems they have you guys in townhouse with no amenities, not even a shallow 4ft pool. No offense because you guys work really hard and bring good stuff. Additionally WN is hurting their own brand, for example, when they threw 10k people in only 1 show. They should have marketed that share around their current sellers and built up some medium sellers. There's a marketing term for that, maybe someone reminders it from marketing class. I understand that some small sellers can't handle it, but what they do bring are "genuine emotions" and that's sellable and people "buy" into that and come back.i.e that's why we have so many tv competition shows. You guys are the franchise players not the replacement sellers. Placing 10k+people...bots or not into a long running show to watch a huge seller eat chicken or go to a restaurant is obsurd and a waste. That is equal to putting 10k into a penny slot machine. The bids were not encouraging. The show was too long..marketing wise. Get in and get out..leave them wanting more not tired and hanging on. I'm not knocking someone's business model or them acting like they got cooked when they are actually are making bank, (who caught that) but that's what my 🔮 crystal ball says...🤔
I disagree that TT will take over Amazon. I'm talking marketing strategies here. Walmart is struggling to take on Amazon and they have physical stores! But Walmart is doing great, so they quit trying. But if they bring back holiday layaway for toys, etc, then they will take off due to the current economy & cut their theft percentage in half. Amazon is King of the Hill, and live selling has not dented their margins...period. What say you?
