Esquireanthony has a great video from this weekend talking about how hurts and mix both has this same issue. Specifically they both avoid the middle of the field because it's the riskiest place to throw and they miss out on big opportunities because of it

I’ll defend Bo Nix as much as possible, I love him and I love my Broncos. However there has to be some accountability from Bo and immediate changes. He can play some insane games and make some surgical throws, just like last weeks game. But this happens far too often from Bo. He needs to slow it down a smidge, trust his O-Line and make some brave throws. None of the check down, marginal pass gain throws. I wonder if this is something Sean Payton has had drilled into him because he is a lover of those kind of plays I believe.

Except they’re never wide open. You think they’re wide open but they aren’t and mix knows it. The answer is the middle linebacker spy that’s watching nix like a hawk. As soon as he sees nix lock in on that guy behind him, and start to throw that ball, he’s going to drop back and make a play on the ball. They always LOOK wide open until you see how fast these dudes can move and it actually does take a second to throw the ball and have it travel to the player. The spy is the key
