@therealoshow: Dana White says if the Lakers are worth $12.5 billion, then the UFC should be worth $50 billion and the numbers actually make his argument pretty interesting. The Lakers generated an estimated $551M in revenue and $170M in EBITDA, while UFC generated more than $1.5B in revenue and $851M in adjusted EBITDA last year. If you applied the same EBITDA multiple investors paid for the Lakers to UFC, it would imply a valuation of roughly $62.5 BILLION. Obviously sports valuations are much more complicated than one multiple and the Lakers are one of the scarcest assets in sports. But there’s also a major difference: the Lakers are one franchise inside a 30-team league. UFC essentially IS the league and its new U.S. media deal alone is worth roughly $1.1B per year. So while Dana’s $50B claim sounds crazy at first, his Lakers comparison makes a surprisingly interesting argument.
