Could not agree more! They need time to be KIDS. Worksheets are like the most menial, inefficient way to learn anyways. We don't stress about homework in this house. If they're open to doing it, great! I love to see what they're learning..but if they're not into it, I'm not even bringing it up a second time. My oldest had 30 mins of free time after school before a back to back band concert & football practice & then 45 minutes until bed time. Got a notification for some study guide on his Chromebook & immediately deleted it. No. Just no.

I was that mom for my boys who are now both graduated. I sent an email earlier on saying you’ve had them for eight hours and their brains are done. Homework is unnecessary, and developmentally-proven to be ineffective. Push back, mamas. We cannot let a system tell us what every mother inherently knows is unhealthy. Stop the madness.

Especially when they’re younger. They come home and have to let out all the emotions and feelings that they bottled up for 8 hours. I was talking with one of the teachers last week who said she refuses to have 1st grade do work sheets all day. My son’s class is all worksheets. They can barely read as it is. He comes home and is so stressed from the day. I feel so bad for him. But I don’t feel like I’d be good at homeschooling. Ugh. Sucks.

They go to school 8 hours a day to learn.Come home about 4 , 2 hours of homework, eat dinner take a shower and go to bed.They don't need homework.They learn all day.They need to come home, relax and spend time as a family.

Teachers think we don’t want to be bothered but really just speaking for myself when I say my kids go to school for 7.5 hours a day and they make it in the door @4 -4:10 and then I walk in at 5:30 from work and then is make dinner time and eat then it’s shower a bed and maybe 20mins of tv or they want to play with their toys. Then it’s in bed by eight. because my kids wake up at 6 AM.

Oh my God, I couldn’t agree this more. Even more with my child who is on the spectrum. He comes home and lets those all of his behaviors because he’s been masking all day in school and now you want me to sit him down and do an hour and a half of homework it just makes no sense.

As a teacher I don’t do homework unless they need extra practice but even then I don’t like doing it because the parent may not teach the kid the way they need to learn it. Idk if that even makes sense but I don’t want to risk someone teaching them incorrectly lmao also my kids go to “no homework” schools so I’m lucky there!😂

Time to text their Teachers!! Not doing it…I’m 65 we NEVER had homework in Elementary School. We had fun after school riding bikes, swimming, Brownies Girl Scouts, church choir. Not to mention this “New Math” makes no sense. I learned the old fashioned way of carrying over-borrowing etc. Goid luck Mama[Twin hearts]

Honest to God, best news I heard at open house, 1st kid in 9th grade at highschool, the teachers says no homework, they have enough time to do it in school…meantime 2 in grade school doing HW for an hour😖
