@bornandrays_d: BORN AND RAYS’D: Rays beat Yankees 5–2, move one win from ALCS ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — The Tampa Bay Rays are one victory away from the American League Championship Series after defeating the New York Yankees 5–2 Monday night at Tropicana Field, taking a 2–0 lead in their best-of-five Division Series. Richie Palacios delivered the biggest hit of the night, lining a two-run single during a four-run fifth inning that broke open a 1–1 game. Tampa Bay turned steady pressure at the plate into a 5–1 advantage, putting New York on the brink of elimination. The Yankees committed four errors, leading to three unearned runs. The Rays made those mistakes count while playing error-free baseball themselves. Freddy Peralta gave Tampa Bay 4⅔ innings, allowing one run on three hits with three strikeouts. Cam Booser then provided a crucial escape, getting Cody Bellinger to fly out with the bases loaded in the fifth to preserve the tie. Ian Seymour followed with three innings of relief, and Bryan Baker finished with a perfect ninth for his second save of the series. Ben Rice supplied both Yankees runs with solo homers in the fourth and eighth innings. Jonathan Aranda and Junior Caminero each collected two hits for Tampa Bay. Next up: Game 3 is Wednesday, October 7, at 8 p.m. ET at Yankee Stadium, airing on TBS, truTV and HBO Max. One more win sends the Rays to the ALCS.
