i love that they set this AFTER she ran and not when she’s still stuck on the stairs. it’s got a totally different feel of her retelling her thought process vs processing in real time. super interesting!!

She doesn’t allow the fourth wall to break - but I think apart of the charm of this number is Cindy using the air, silence before her- her aloneness- as another person to process to. The audience is allowed to discover her conclusions along with her as she agrees the disagrees with herself in the same sentence - but this type of performance ignores them - makes them feel they have no access to what she is doing- her energy says, “Don’t participate . Watch me. That is what you are for. Her performance is not a problem- it’s the blocking out of the audience as she proceeds that concerns me- it’s a conversation song to self- and usually when one is alone onstage singing to self- the audience therefore becomes apart of that individual’s mentality- so to deny them access to participation even by reaction- is a disservice to them. But honestly- she is massively talented.
